More About Clive Myrie
CLIVE MYRIE – NEWS JOURNALISM
Clive Myrie joined the BBC in 1987 as a trainee local radio reporter on their graduate programme. His first assignment was for Radio Bristol, followed by Points West, BBC Television and Radio News. In 1996, he became a foreign correspondent and has since reported from more than 80 countries, reporting from the likes of Tokyo and Los Angeles. In 2002, he was appointed the BBC Asia correspondent, followed by the Paris correspondent in 2006 and the Europe correspondent in Brussels.
He has presented the BBC Weekend News, News at Ten, BBC Breakfast and weekday bulletins; reported from Kathmandu on the 2015 Earthquake, reported from Bangladesh on the Rohingya refugee crisis and covered Nelson Mandela’s funeral from Johannesburg. He is also a go to war correspondent, reporting on the conflicts in Kosovo, Ukraine, Afghanistan and Iraq – where he embedded himself with the 40 Commando Royal Marines.
With a particular interest in politics, Clive has covered the impeachment of Bill Clinton, the 2015 UK election and the administrations of Barack Obama, George W Bush and Joe Biden. Her has interviewed many key influencers including Margaret Thatcher, John Major, Tony Blair, Nick Clegg, David Cameron, President Jacques Chirac, President Francois Hollande, Secretary John Kerry, the Dalai Lama and Kofi Annan.

Whilst his news reporting career is going strong, Clive has also presented and appeared in a number of documentaries and panel shows. He presented the BBC documentary, Obama: His Story (2009), The Crown Jewels (2022) as part of the BBC TV Jubilee programming, as well as covering the Champions League 2019 final and the First Night of the Proms (2022). He has guest starred on Have I Got News For You (2016-2022), Richard Osman’s House of Games (2017), Celebrity Antiques Road Trip (2021) and made a brief cameo in the Alan Partridge film Alpha Papa (2013).

CLIVE MYRIE – AWARDS
Thanks to his many years of service, Clive has been the recipient of a range of awards and accolades. In 2003 he won the Golden Nymph Journalism Award, followed by the Screen Nations Journalism Award in 2003 and 2004, the MVSA Journalism Awards in 2011 and 2017, a National Mentoring Consortium awards in 2017, the Royal Television Society award for Best Foreign Coverage of Yemen in 2018 followed by the broadcast equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize – the Peabody Awards – for his coverage of the Bangladesh Rohingya crisis. He was awarded the Television Journalist of the Year award and Network Presenter of the Year award in 2021. He also holds honorary degrees from Staffordshire University and Brighton-based University of Sussex.
