It’s fair to say that Evelyne Brink has been handed a somewhat rough deal. Due to illness, she was informed “you will never dance again” by the doctors. Unwilling to accept her diagnosis would keep her from living the life she wanted, she was up and touring as a Madonna impersonator by the following year.
After giving birth to her son – the first surviving child born without a small intestine – she was informed that he wouldn’t live, but he is now thriving and attending a mainstream school. His – and his sibling’s – medical needs meant she was told “you won’t work again, taking care of the boy is a full-time job”. Since then, she has worked for the likes of Channel 4 and the BBC.
