James Hardy holds a number of qualifications, including a qualification in Common Law from the Chester College of Law, sat a Legal Practice Course from the London College of Law, and a MBA in Business from the Melbourne Business School.

His career started in the world of law, working as a solicitor for Mishcon de Reya, and Travers Smith, a legal advisor for Next 15, and general counsel for Bite Communications, and Text 100 (where he worked with the likes of Adobe, Blackberry, British Airways, Cisco, IBM, MTV, Skype, and Xerox).

He has since worked on international ecommerce strategies for multiple companies, identifying how brands can maximise their value to external, private, and public markets. He was Head of EMEA Region for Alibaba.com, a Non-Executive Director for Atosho, and consultant for Titán Panamá, and Stitch Fit. In 2015, he co-founded Avenue51 where he worked with a range of European consumer oriented e-commerce businesses entering the Chinese e-commerce market.

He is currently the Head of Global Retail and Market Development for Flutterwave, and is responsible for consumer and SME revenues globally.
