More About Alex MacQueen
Despite 20 years as an actor, this wasn’t Alex MacQueen’s first career. After gaining a first class degree in Literature at Durham University and an M.Phil in International Relations from Cambridge University, Alex qualified as a barrister.
He was called to the Bar in 1999 and completed his pupillage at 4 Breams Buildings and 11 Stone Buildings. He then practised briefly in commercial law before establishing himself as an actor. Alex had been a member of the National Youth Theatre and President of the Cambridge University Theatre Company, so acting was not something that was new to him.
It was in 2003, however, that Alex MacQueen made it onto TV screens with his appearance in Keen Eddie, an American comedy-drama. In the same year he made it to the big screen in the film The Emperor’s Wife.

In the 20 years since Alex MacQueen hit the screens, he has amassed an impressive credit list, with appearances in over 40 films and more than 60 TV programmes. He starred opposite Matt Lucas in the BBC’s Wind In The Willows, opposite Josh Brolin in Woody Allen’s, You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger, and opposite Riz Ahmed in Chris Morris’s Four Lions.
Alex also appeared in Shane Meadows’s This Is England 88, the BBC’s Peaky Blinders, and Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror. Alex McQueen’s big screen credits include Downton Abbey: A New Era, Horrible Histories: The Movie – Rotten Romans, in Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella and All is True, Schools Out Forever, and Youth.

Alex MacQueen Speaking and Hosting
Alex makes an entertaining and confident speaker and host. As well as hosting the Downing Street Debates with David Cameron at Number 10, he also hosted the Intelligence Squared Fleming V Le Carre debate with Simon Callow and Anthony Horowitz. Alex attended as guest speaker at the Middle Temple Annual Dinner, with the Master of The Rolls, Lord Dyson, for 180 benchers and barristers.
Alex hosted the Ultra Travel Awards at the Savoy Hotel, on behalf of Children in Crisis, with the Duchess of York. Alex is currently an Ambassador for Macmillan Cancer and the British Heart Foundation.
