More About

A recognised authority on AI standards and regulation, Matthew Blakemore is a co-editor of ISO/IEC 8183, the international standard for the AI data life cycle; a contributor to the EU AI Office’s GPAI Code of Practice; a member of Innovate UK’s BridgeAI Advisory Committee; and a member of the AI and Data Working Group at the Swedish Chamber of Commerce UK. He is European Regional Director at Monarrch, the AI royalty company, and holds a US patent.

Matthew launched the ‘Snakes and Ladders AI Framework’, a guide for navigating and seeing through the adoption curve. Paraphrasing the famous board game, the ‘snakes’ represent pitfalls: ethical oversights, poor integration, or an overreliance on black-box models. The ‘ladders’ are the processes, checks, and cultural shifts that help organisations move towards more purposeful use. “Without retraining and realignment,” he warns, “even the most well-built AI systems can decay or mislead.”
