Nico Rosberg | Racing
Nico Rosberg is the son of 1982 Formula 1 World Champion Keke. Born in Germany, Nico started racing in karts when he was just six years old. Success at national, European, and World Championship level led him into car racing.
He won the German Formula BMW series in 2002, then spent two competitive seasons in Formula 3 before winning the GP2 championship title in 2005 – the final step on the latter to Formula 1.
Making his debut for the Williams team in 2006, he drove for them for four seasons prior to his switch to Mercedes in 2010. His speed in F1 was already well established and in 2012 he scored his first victory, winning the Chinese Grand Prix. Between 2013 and 2016, he was teamed with Lewis Hamilton and the pair dominated Formula 1 in the hybrid-engined era commencing in 2014.
Having twice finished runner-up in the World Championship, he finally claimed the title in 2016. In doing so, he and his father became only the second father-son combination to win Formula 1 titles, emulating the success achieved by Graham and Damon Hill.
