Half Nepalese, half German, Nina Schick speaks seven languages and has worked across Europe, Asia, and North America. Now based in the US, Nina is focussed on how AI will reshape global power in the 21st century.
Her career has involved working across industries for lots of big organisations. Politically, she has worked as a political advisor, a political commentator for CNN, a policy research assistant, a policy researcher, communications director, and associate director.
She has worked with Adrian Sanders MP, BBC Milbank, The Sunday Times, SPIEGEL International, the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, and Open Europe. Nina has specifically worked on policy-changing campaigns, such as the UK’s Brexit referendum, and on Emmanuel Macron’s 2017 presidential bid in France. She has advised former President Joe Biden on how AI is effecting geopolitics, as well as former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
In 2021, she became an advisor for Truepic, a start-up pioneering the authentication of digital media which has been recognised twice as Time magazine’s invention of the year. Alongside this, she is an advisor for Synthesia, an AI-Video generation platform valued at over $2 billion.
In 2018, Nina founded Tamang Ventures, working with innovators and leaders on how to understand and prepare for ‘industrial intelligence’. She is CEO and analyst on AI, geopolitics, and power.
In 2020, she published her book Deepfakes, which was the first to explore the societal impact of generative AI. Her research – industrialising intelligence – argues that AI is not just a software revolution, but an industrial revolution, shaping global power as profoundly as past technological shifts.
