Pip Tomson knew she wanted to be a journalist from a young age and at 18, she did her journalism training, which led to her working for the local newspaper Express & Star in Wolverhampton. She later became their chief reporter at aged 23. She went on to freelance for newspapers and publications including the Daily Mail and the Sunday Sun.
Pip began her TV career in 2002, joining ITV’s Central News in Birmingham before moving to the North East to front their regional news programme. She also undertook a broadcast meteorology course so she could present the weather on GMTV as well as in the Tyne Tees and Border regions.
She later worked on the ITV breakfast show Daybreak and as a reporter for Sky News. In 2013, Pip re-joined Daybreak, which changed its name to Good Morning Britain the following year.

Pip Tomson | Charity
Always up for a challenge, Pip Tomson has completed charity treks to Everest Base Camp, Mount Kilimanjaro, sky dived with the Red Devils, bungee jumped over the river Tyne in Newcastle (in a rival Sunderland shirt!) and regularly competes in the Great North Run half marathon.
Pip has been a member of the Cash for Kids charity, which supports children and young people affected by poverty, abuse, neglect, life-limiting illness and those who have additional needs. In 2008, she was the vice-president of the Tsunami Fund Raising charity, when she helped to raise money for students at the Ban Kamala School, devastated by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
She is a patron of Someone Cares and in 2009 took part in the Great North Run to raise funds and awareness for the charity. She has run the same event for Bryson’s Animal Refuge, Ark on the Edge animal sanctuary and the Children’s Heart Unit at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne.
She’s also a passionate dog lover. Two of Pip’s rescue dogs were saved from the dog meat trade in South Korea and – with the involvement of dog lover Simon Cowell – she travelled to Asia with Humane Society International for a special TV investigation into the industry.

Pip Tomson | The Petcast Podcast
In 2022, Pip launched The Petcast, reporting on the stories of people who fled Ukraine with their pets and those risking their lives to help the animals left behind. Among the people she interviewed are an ex army veteran who goes to war zones to rescue animals, a Ukrainian woman who returned to rescue her 17 year old horse and a man who fled with his heavily pregnant wife and their French bulldog.
