Simon Jordan is a serial entrepreneur and made his fortunes in the mobile phone industry, building his company from scratch. He sold The Pocket Phone Shop in 2000 for £75 million, aged 32.
In the same year, he bought Crystal Palace FC, becoming the youngest-ever owner of a Football League club – the club his father played for and the team he had supported as a child.
Simon is also a restaurant owner and founder of Octane Magazine.
In 2000, Simon Jordan bought Crystal Palace Football Club off of Singapore financier Jerry Lim. Then aged 32, Simon appointed himself chairman, making him the youngest chairman of a football league club at the time. Simon had grown up about 100 yards from the ground and had been a lifelong fan of the club. He vowed they would be promoted to the Premiership within five years, a feat he actually achieved within four years.
In 2008, he planned to sell the club and move away from football, but no potential buys came forward to make a bid, and unfortunately in 2010 Crystal Palace went into administration.
During his ten years in football, covering the entire decade of the noughties, Simon Jordan became one of the most recognisable faces in the game and led Crystal Palace to the Premier League in 2004.
He is the author of best-selling book Be Careful What You Wish For (2012), which recounts his business success in the mobile phone business, as well as his time owning Crystal Palace Football Club. The book was a commercial and critical success, and was awarded a British Sport Book award, as well as being a finalist in the William Hill sports awards.
He has starred in the major ITV series Fortune: Million Pound Giveaway, and on BBC’s Question Time He is a frequent guest on panel shows such as The Wright Stuff and a regular on TalkSport; he has co-presented The Final World, and the mid-morning sports programme White and Jordan alongside Scottish presenter Jim White.
Between 2005 and 2007, Simon write a regular column for The Observer newspaper, and then in 2019-20 he wrote the column ‘Simon Jordan’s Big Opinion’ in The Sun.
Simon has hosted the William Hill Up Front podcast, where he sat down with interesting characters from the world of sport and beyond; he also fronted their Three Up Front show alongside Graeme Souness and Troy Deeney, which tackled the biggest talking points in world football.

In 2008, Simon Jordan produced the film Telstar based on the play about the life of record producer, Joe Meek. The film followed Jordan’s production of the play of the same title at London’s New Ambassadors Theatre. The film was solely funded by Jordan and featured Kevin Spacey, James Corden and JJ Feild. It was a critical success but only opened in 45 screens in the UK. In 2006, Jordan part funded and exec-produced Sweeney Todd, starring Ray Winstone and Tom Hardy.
